OCR: A SYSTEM FIT FOR QUEENSLAND In its effort to automate land transaction processes, The Queensland Department of Lands opted for a client/server environment to run its new Automated Titles System. The ATS runs under Unix and the CA-Ingres relational database on a symmetric multiprocessor- Townsville based Sequent platform in Brisbane. Employees through- Rockhampton out the Department's 34 offices currently access ATS via 486 PCs running in terminal Nambour emulation mode, but will soon Brisbane move to Windows. Bundall After employees at regional offices conduct a preliminary examination, title information is escalated to more highly skilled staff in Brisbane, Rockhampton, Townsville, Bundall CA-Ingres or Nambour for final approval. The general public accesses ATS through the ATS Center for Information Technology and Communication, which provides a public access gateway into government-controlled data.
